Hyperhidrosis Treatment
Axillary Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating that commonly affects the underarm sweat glands, but can also affect the palms of the hands, feet or the whole body. Patients with hyperhidrosis produce an amount of sweat that exceeds the amount needed to help regulate body temperature. Such symptoms are not always successfully treated with topical agents. For clients who suffer from severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating), Medcan has introduced a non-surgical treatment using Botox® injections. The treatment consists of tiny injections that are inserted into the underarms to inhibit the release of a neurotransmitter, acetylcholine, from nerve cells, blocking the signals that stimulate the eccrine glands to produce sweat.
