Medcan Counselling & Coaching - Assessment
The Medcan Counselling & Coaching Assessment is a 90-minute appointment with a Medcan psychologist where you will undergo a comprehensive interview in a safe and confidential environment. Your psychologist will use this time to determine your specific needs for any psychological treatment.
Some of the issues that are addressed include coping with stress, depression, attention issues, self-esteem, relationship management, workplace challenges as well as personal life situations and decisions.
Medcan Counselling & Coaching - Program
This 6-week program includes weekly consultations led by a Medcan psychologist and, if necessary, an additional consultation with Medcan’s mental health advisor. The goal of the program is to identify and address immediate as well as long-term concerns and set in motion the necessary dialogue that will support you making long-standing positive change in your life. Additional individual sessions led by a Medcan psychologist are available.

The Mental Health Team
Dr. Karyn Hood, PhD. C. Psych, Senior Medical Consultant, Psychology
Dr. Hood has extensive experience in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for depression and anxiety and has been providing psychotherapy to adults and groups for over 10 years. Dr. Hood has worked with clients with stress and anxiety, mood disorders, relationship challenges, weight/health issues and adjustment issues. Dr. Hood is a registered Clinical Psychologist who obtained her PhD in counselling psychology from the University of Toronto. She completed her clinical training at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and University of Toronto.
Dr. Gina Di Giulio, PhD, C. Psych, LLM, Senior Medical Consultant, Psychology
Dr. Di Giulio is a clinical psychologist who obtained her PhD at the University of Ottawa. She also completed a L.L.M. Masters Degree in Law (Health Specialization) from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. She currently has an active clinical practice focusing on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) therapy, individual adult therapy and evidence based treatment strategies for weight management/behaviour modification. Her practice covers a wide range of conditions including depression, bipolar, panic disorder, health anxiety, generalized anxiety, post traumatic stress, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, social anxiety and adjustment disorders.
Dr. Jodi Lofchy, MD, FRCPC, Senior Medical Consultant, Psychiatry
Dr. Lofchy is Director of Psychiatry Emergency Services at the University Health Network in Toronto. Dr. Lofchy was formerly the Director of Undergraduate Education for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto from 2000-2011. Dr. Lofchy is currently Chair of the Canadian Psychiatric Association’s Standing Committee on Education and former Chair of the Canadian Organization of Undergraduate Psychiatric Educators.
