Steven Friedman, MD, FCFP (EM), MPH
Senior Medical ConsultantDr. Friedman obtained his medical degree, Family Medicine Residency (CCFP) at the University of Toronto; Emergency Medicine Fellowship (EM) at McMaster University; Master of Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard University and Fellowship for the College of Family Physicians of Canada (FCFP). He is an Associate Professor, Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of Toronto; Assistant Director of Research, Emergency Medicine, University Health Network (UHN), Toronto and Associate Professor, Dalla-Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. Dr. Friedman is a staff emergency medicine physician and nuclear cardiology stress test physician at University Health Network. He is a Physician Examiner for the Centre for the Evaluation of Health Professionals Educated Abroad (CEHPEA) in association with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Previous appointments include the Hyperbaric Medicine Team, Department of Anesthesia, Hyberbaric Medicine, UHN (1997-2004) and senior consultant for the Workplace Safety Insurance Board (1998-2002). He has been an expedition and critical care physician (air ambulance) for various organizations. Dr. Friedman has received additional certification in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, University of Toronto. He is the active Co-Editor-in-Chief for the Israeli Journal of Emergency Medicine (ISRJEM) and peer reviewer of various medical journals (Pediatrics, Journal of Healthcare Engineering, Canadian Medical Association Journal, Canadian Family Physician, Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine). He has published several articles and book chapters in his areas of interest as well as presented and lectured at international scientific meetings. Dr. Friedman has been active in committee work in academic and hospital settings.
