Mansour Alvi, BSc, MSc, PhD, PEng, MD, FRCS(C)
Senior Medical Consultant, Orthopaedic SurgeryDr. Alvi obtained his medical degree from McMaster University and completed specialty training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Toronto. He has completed fellowship training in Adult Lower Extremity Trauma and Reconstruction (Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto) and Hand, Wrist, Elbow and Shoulder Trauma and Reconstruction (St. Joseph’s Health Care, University of Western Ontario). Dr. Alvi is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and an orthopaedic consultant for the Sports Medicine Clinic, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto where he is a Clinical Associate for Revision Hip and Knee Arthroplasty. Dr. Alvi is courtesy staff at Scarborough General Hospital, Humber River Regional Hospital and Ross Memorial Hospital. Dr. Alvi has conducted research in the areas of non-surgical management of sports injuries (Sports Medicine Clinic, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto), articular lesions around the knee and validation of the “Nottingham Hip Fracture Score” as a predictor of mortality in fragility hip fractures (Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto). He has received multiple awards - most recently the A.W. Harrison Resident Teaching Award, Department of Surgery, University of Toronto where he was Chief Resident, Trauma Rotation at Sunnybrook Hospital. He is also a Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering, University of Toronto (prior to pursuing a career in medicine) and received the Prime Minister’s Award of Excellence in Scientific Research in Canada (1999). He has published articles in his areas of interest.
