Jodi Lofchy, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Jodi Lofchy is Director of Psychiatry Emergency Services at the University Health Network in Toronto. She is also Director of Undergraduate Education for the Department of Psychiatry and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. After receiving her medical degree from Toronto University, Dr Lofchy completed her training in Vancouver, BC, followed by several years practicing as a GP. Dr Lofchy returned to Toronto to undertake the residency program in Psychiatry. This was followed by a 2-year Fellowship in Emergency Psychiatry at the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry where she was subsequently appointed Director of Emergency Services. Dr Lofchy has been involved in the development of formal teaching programs in Emergency Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and has assisted other universities in the creation of similar programs, having published widely in the areas of innovations in emergency education and medical education. She is currently Chair of the Canadian Psychiatric Association's Standing Committee on Education and was formerly Chair of the Canadian Organization of Undergraduate Psychiatric Educators. Dr Lofchy has been an invited lecturer, nationally and internationally, to speak on Emergency Psychiatry and Education, and has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards for excellence and innovation in education. These awards include the CPA's Paul Patterson Education Leadership award, the APA's Nancy Roeske Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Medical Student Education and the American College of Psychiatrists' Award for Creativity in Education. Dr Lofchy is also a joint recipient of the CPA and Council of Psychiatric Continuing Education's (COPCE) Most Outstanding Continuing Education Activity in Psychiatry in Canada.
