Last year we asked our clients in what way(s) would you be interested in having interactions with a doctor for day-to-day medical needs? Over 80% of responses preferred virtual interaction with a physician over the traditional in-person appointment. This preference is in line with U.S. demand that predicts close to 80% of employers will have telemedicine programs available to employees by 2018.
Medcan has had virtual health capabilities in place for close to three years. A new version of video visit technology now makes connecting with a Medcan health practitioner easier than ever from the comfort of your home, office or while travelling. We offer video visits for Year-Round Care, Mental Well-being and Weight Management.
For Year-Round Care, physician appointments by video can be booked same day or the next day. These appointments require no waiting room time before you see the doctor. And our physicians find that around 90% of cases can be resolved during a video visit without an in-person follow up.
“In today’s world of technological advancement and modernization of health-care delivery, video visits allow me to provide convenient and efficient consultations to resolve many health issues for my patients,” says Dr. Jason Abrams, Associate Medical Director at Medcan. “Our clients’ time is limited and they want their appointment on time and not rushed – which is exactly what we provide.”
Safe, secure and easy to use. The technology is compliant with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). Download the app for your phone or tablet; or go directly to the website on your desktop computer.
Sharing capabilities for images and documents. Our updated technology allows patients and doctors to exchange photos and documents with their physician during the video visit.
Convenient assessment of common ailments. Medcan physicians treat a variety of time-sensitive and non-urgent medical conditions via video visit. The most common issues include musculoskeletal (joint pain, back pain, minor injuries); skin issues (rash, acne); cold and flu; mental health (anxiety, depression, sleeplessness) and digestive issues (abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea).
Physicians can write prescriptions and specialist referrals. Video visits are also a good way to receive counselling about test results, prescription renewals, lab requisitions and specialist referrals without having to leave your office or home.
Follow-up coordination when needed. Our clients receive the same level of privacy and service, including post-visit coordination, as they would with an in-clinic visit.
For you and your family. Video visits are available for individuals, families and corporate offerings for employers across Canada.
