Reopening Medcan

On October 9th, in response the growing number of COVID-19 cases, the Ontario government instituted some modifications that impact two of Medcan’s services.

As a result, we’re currently unable to provide aesthetic services where mask removal is required. We’re also unable to offer on-site Personal Training—unless a regulated health professional has confirmed that exercise-based therapeutic care isn’t possible over the phone or virtually.

What’s on at 150 York?

  • Annual Health Assessments. While we’re happy to welcome you back, we will continue to limit the daily number of on-site Assessments to help manage physical distancing restrictions.
  • Year-Round Care. Since the COVID-19 crisis began, we’ve been here to support you 7 days a week—at our physical Year-Round Care clinic here at 150 York (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and virtually (7 a.m. to 11 p.m.). The Year-Round Care clinic remains open, both on-site and virtually.
  • Refine by Medcan. Despite the new restrictions, there’s still a broad range of cosmetic and medical dermatology services available at the Refine Clinic at 150 York. For more information, contact refine@medcan.com.
  • Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation. All services resumed on-site, accompanied by personal protective equipment (PPE) and physical distancing guidelines.
  • Nutrition programs resumed on-site.
  • Personal training, group fitness and fitness coaching. To learn more about virtual Personal Fitness Training, or to book an appointment with one of our Chiropractors to see if you qualify for on-site training, please contact stephensalzmann@medcan.com.
  • Liver Health Assessments have resumed on-site.
  • Colonoscopy screenings have resumed on-site. Gastroscopies will not be performed at this time.

Social Distancing

In addition to limiting our number of in-clinic appointments, we’re removing magazines and spacing out the seating in all of our lounges.

Contactless Payment

Our products and services can now be purchased with major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

To prevent potential exposure to COVID-19, clients and staff are required to wear surgical masks and additional PPE when needed.

  • Mainland China has 82,432 cases. Holding steady.
  • Currently Canada has 9,731 cases. Ontario has 37 deaths.
  • Italy has the second-highest confirmed cases, at 115,242 (the rate is slowing) and 13,915 deaths (rate is slowing)
  • The U.S. has now taken over China with the most number of cases at 226,374 (20,000 new cases since yesterday).
  • Spain has 110,238 cases and 10,003 deaths.
  • Germany has 82,432 cases with only 997 deaths.
  • With SARS, there were a total of 8,098 cases and 774 deaths reported in 17 countries.

How to Protect Yourself / What to Do

Reduce the spread of infection with these simple daily practices.

Replace handshakes with a fist bump, slight bow or elbow bump.

Use your elbow to touch elevator buttons and light switches.

When possible, close doors with your hip or a closed fist.

Use disinfectant wipes to clean frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Wash your hands often with soap and water (for at least 30 seconds). If soap and water aren’t available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer instead.

Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer inside your car and at all of your home’s entrances.

Use a tissue to block your cough or sneeze, then toss it in the garbage and wash your hands immediately.

Tested positive for COVID-19 or had close prolonged contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 without wearing appropriate PPE?
