Respiratory Function
A respiratory function test, also known as spirometry, measures the overall function of your lungs. After taking a deep breath, you will be asked to exhale into the spirometer as hard as possible, which will measure both the amount and speed of the air flow.
The respiratory function test is helpful in assessing a number of pulmonary conditions, such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, emphysema, and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
