Lab Tests
Medcan’s onsite laboratory will deliver the results of your blood tests on the day of your Comprehensive Health Assessment, which will be reviewed with you by your Medcan physician.
Blood tests performed include cholesterol level for heart disease risk; hsCRP and a1c for risk for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases; blood count for anemia, malignancies or vitamin deficiencies; white blood cell count for immunity disorders; calcium level for bone disorders; platelet count for bleeding disorders; uric acid for risk of gout or kidney stones; glucose for diabetes risk; bilirubin, alkaline phosphate and liver enzymes for liver disease; TSH for thyroid function; and creatinine and electrolytes for kidney function. Patients over 40 are also tested for vitamin D deficiency, which can lead to bone-softening diseases as well as a number of other conditions.
