Medcan - A Leader in Genomics
Medcan genetic counsellor Jill Davies has been invited to speak at the 3rd annual Critical Markers of Disease conference May 24th and 25th in Canada’s capital. The conference is co-sponsored by Health Canada and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and will provide industry leaders the opportunity to learn about emerging sciences such as genomics, proteomics and imaging technology. Jill Davies will be speaking about the use of genomics markers in personalized medicine. Slight variations in our genes can predispose individuals to chronic diseases and also have a profound effect on how our body responds to certain medications. For over two years Medcan has been offering services in the area of Personalized Genomics and Pharmacogenomics. These tests allow individuals to gain insight into their genetic predisposition for disease as well as providing information on personalizing medications.
Jill Davies has also been featured by the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors for the leading edge work that she has been doing at Medcan.
