Fitness Testimonial: How Medcan helps our clients reach their fitness goals
Assisting our clients in reaching their optimal health is our mission. As we age, physical activity becomes a major factor in maintaining ones health. Exercise has been proven to decrease the risk of many diseases, including cardiovascular disease, obesity and certain cancers. That is why our clinic puts such an emphasis on physical fitness with each client we see.
Below is a testimonial from Medcan fitness client, Wendy Mills. Wendy embarked on a dramatic physical transformation when she set a goal for herself: To be her absolute fittest by her 50th birthday. Weighing 225 lbs, she shed 100 lbs by setting small goals and making lifestyle changes. With the assistance of Vince Rinella, Medcan Personal Trainer, Wendy achieved her goal and was featured as a “Success Story” in the June Edition of Oxygen Magazine.
Here is Wendy’s story.
“I started training with Vince Rinella at Medcan in August 2009. At that time I weighed 170 pounds and had never done any strength training. I had lost weight over the previous eight months with an altered eating plan and by committing to a regular cardio exercise program, but my body fat percentage was still quite high and I had little strength and muscle tone.
Since August 2009, I have continued to work out once a week with Vince at Medcan and four or five days a week at home, doing many of the same exercises that I do each week with Vince. The change in my overall health is remarkable. I have lost over 45 pounds and my body fat has decreased 20 percentage points. I am now stronger than I have ever been at any time in my life, in better health than I have been for many years and wake up every morning with tons of energy.
Vince is an exceptionally talented trainer. He listens to what I have to say and respects my wishes but at the same time delivers amazing results allowing me to reach my fitness goals. My weekly training sessions with Vince have and continue to provide me with renewed motivation, and I continue to set new goals for myself. For anyone starting a fitness program I recommend setting shorter term, smaller, achievable goals, rather than larger, long term goals. Tracking your progress against these smaller goals, will help you stay motivated.
There has been a lot of hard work on my part; however, I credit my success and the significant changes I have made in my life to Vince.
I highly recommend Medcan Fitness to anyone looking to improve their health and the way they look and feel.”

“I designed and tailored Wendy’s workout based on her work schedule, 2hr commute time and most importantly her short and long-term health and fitness goals. I tracked her progress using Medcan’s Bod Pod every 3-4 months so I could make adjustments to her workout plan along the way based on her results.
Wendy's workout consisted of compound movements (legs, back and chest and abs) and cardiovascular exercise. As her trainer, I provided her with the tools, support and guidance she needed to meet each goal. Wendy changed her eating habits and her overall lifestyle. Being in Oxygen Magazine is a true testament of her overall physical and mental transformation and I'm so proud of her. Wendy's dedication and persistence to achieve her results show that it is possible for anyone, as long as they do the work. Wendy is in the June's issue of Oxygen Magazine and I have a feeling Oxygen will be keeping an eye on her and Medcan fitness!”
